There will be a separate post about my love for avocado toasts, but for now, I want to share with you one of my favorite bakeries in LA.
December 22, 2024
M and E came to visit LA and we decided to grab brunch. I sent a few recommendations and they chose Lodge Bread. My response was, “WONDERFUL CHOICE.”
We went to the new location in Beverley Hills on a Sunday morning around 11 am. There’s free, easy street parking on Robertson Blvd. Compared to their Culver City location, this spot is more spacious inside. However, I think the Culver City menu offers more items, including pizza and a pita sandwich. The Ventura location only has outdoor seating, but parking is the easiest there.
Address and Menu for each location
These are just my thoughts and personal tastes. Everyone’s food preferences are unique, so please take my opinions as one of many out there in the food world. I encourage you to try what seems appealing to you. And don’t forget to grab a loaf!
Toast
This is one of my favorite places to get avocado toast. In my opinion, the bread is the perfect thickness and the avocado is slightly mashed, with some chucks still left. It is topped with sliced radishes for a bit of crunch and freshness, along with a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Smoked Salmon - Toast is great. Loaded with capers, but made it too salty for me. You get a generous amount of lox and a thin layer of labneh on the bread. Compared to cream cheese, labneh is smoother. Plus it is yogurt-based and usually contains probiotics!
Jam - If you want something sweet, go for this one. While it was delicious, I found the sweetness a bit overwhelming. Note that the jam is seasonal so you know it’ll be fresh.
Other items
Fresh Veggie Sammie - It is PACKED with veggies, especially sprouts. I had to use utensils to eat most of it because it was loaded. It was quite filling. If you enjoy vegetables like me, I think you will like this sandwich.
Chocolate Chip Cookie - I am not a sweet tooth, but these rank in my top 3. If you like chewy cookies, this is for you. Not too thin or thick, with large chunks of chocolate chips.
Other cookies - Oat Poppy is big and thin, and the oats add a nice texture. They no longer make the Ginger Molasses and Miso Chocolate anymore :(
Cinnamon Roll - It is HUMONGOUS! Aside from the size, its sourdough base makes it unique. I like to get the frosting on the side and add a little bit to each bite. I’ve also tried toasting a piece at home, and it came out slightly crispy and the cinnamon sugar caramelized nicely. The sourdough gives it a lighter texture, or so I think.
Croissants - Flakey, crunchy, and made with sourdough (yay!). I’ve taken one home and toasted it slightly, which made it extra crispy. I enjoyed peeling and eating it layer by layer with a matcha. Delicious and one of the best.
Items I haven’t tried these items heard are great:
Cardonmon knott
Ricotta & Jam
Shakshuka
Pita Sandwich (only in Culver City)
Italian Sammie - it’s slightly spicy and on focaccia
Going through my pictures, I just realized how often I’ve been here. But I’m not complaining :) Enjoy the photo gallery.
